I had a wonderful time here! I went to New York to visit my girlfriend, and this is one of the restaurants we wanted to try. They have wonderful service and delicious food! I hope they continue to grow in perfect all of their dishes.

Came here to try the new hyped west African restaurant by Ayo Balogun, the James Beard award winning owner of Dept of Culture. The setting in Radio Kwara is less fancy and feels more homey, like you're in a friend's house. The chef cooks the food right there in the dining room using just a few burners and pans. I'm certainly not an expert on Nigerian food, so I let our very helpful waiter dictate what we ordered, which turned out to be a great choice. I LOVED the Moi Moi and the bread with minced goat the most. Both were super flavorful and had amazing texture. The jollof was also very good but I wish it had some meat in it and was spicier, I've definitely had more spicy jollof before. Also I feel like the usual orange color is so iconic and didn't love the black rice look as much. This is just a minor nitpick though as everything tasted great overall. I highly recommend as I had a fantastic experience. The place is also BYOB so bring some wine or buy it from the place next door, and have a great time with your SO/friends/family .

My favorite meal and my favorite restaurant so far of the 2020s. Ayo Balogun's menu at Radio Kwara is a genuinely inventive take on food from central Nigeria, a patchwork borderland of palm tree groves and wooded savanna that combines snacks, street fare and formal cuisines of west and north Nigeria. Traditional favorites like wara cheese are reinterpreted in a way that is new in flavor profile and presentation, while still being recognizable as a favorite Fulani-inspired cheese snack. Similarly, the pulped yam tubers and egusi mango-seed sauce ubiquitous in southern Nigeria is on the menu as iyan ati egusi. Instantly recognizable as a staple of family meals and buka cafeterias, the fresh spinach reinterpretation and smoothness of the pounded yam is a standout. Dessert (puff-puff, coated in a tart-sweet caramel and apple sauce) is another must-try. The only partial miss on the menu is the large but slightly under-seasoned guinea fowl, perhaps useful as an alternative for those who are new or experimenting with deep and bold West African flavors. This tastes like one of New York's standout restaurants, hopefully destined for a long run as a station on the city's destination map for excellent, elevated African food. It's intimate yet impressive, with relaxed interaction between the kitchen staff, waiters and other diners. I loved it and will be back as soon as possible.

Incredible food and great ambiance. I didn't get the octopus so I can't comment on that, but I don't understand the criticism in the other reviews. The tables are normally spaced for nyc and the staff is lovely. It's busy every time I come, and I can see why. BYOB with a great wine store next time is an added bonus.

Simply WOW! This was an amazing experience that I have no words to describe this dining experience other than amazing! This restaurant is extremely intimate and I loved every second of it! This restaurant is BYOB which I enjoyed as there is a wine / beer store right next door! The customer Serivce was really great and everyone was so friendly! The decor was simple and highlighted Nigerian art and pieces. The menu has a great variety for all dietary needs to try. We tried almost everything on the menu and loved it! Here are some of my favorites: 1. Bread ati obe with the sautéed mushrooms! Omg this just melts in your mouth 2. The goat pepper soup was delicious and had a different twist to it with the indomie noodles 3. Roasted Guinea fowl 4. Pounded yam with at spinach Ati egusi ( omg this was so good) I am usually not a pounded yam fan but I cleaned the bowl! 5. The pof pof was a great way to end the meal and loved their take on it! Please don't walk but run to this restaurant! It is the perfect place to meet friends, have a first date or just drop in!

Amazing food and service. Everything is spicy but I loved it (and I have only recently begun eating spicy so my tolerance is pretty low). I am making this my go to African restaurant. GREAT JOB!!!

We live next door and have been keen to try. We booked an early Friday dinner and it exceeded our already high expectations. Every dish was flavorful and intentional, and what we loved most... it's finally something innovative and unique. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Intimate, cool date-night vibes with food that will blow your mind. If you want to impress your friends and family, bring them here.

Came here for dinner on a Friday night at 6:30 with three other people. We were the first people there so we're a bit worried, but the place soon filled up and became very lively by 7:30. It's BYOB at the moment but there is a fun wine store next door so it's very convenient. Cool atmosphere with great music. The food itself is a lot of fun. Tons of unique, amazing flavors. We got the suya with lamb (amazing), cheese (love the spicy sauce with it), the soup (great flavor with just hit of heat), octopus (perfectly crispy), and the guinea fowl (a little tough to share, but good flavors). Overall I definitely recommend it if you're into exploring new flavors.
